I could say caps, hats and beanies are trending for fall, but I really just like the feeling that comes with having something on the top of my head. Fashion is so stupid sometimes. Every season I hope trends die, because the industry and it`s leaders need a new and more original language to talk to their audience. I mean, who cares what they say now a days? I`m not going to throw away cool stuff because it´s ?over? and buy new stuff because it`s ?cool?.
Trends, easy fill up for magazines, that stops them from creating new and bold content.
Look at this fall for example, it is so many trends being dictated, nobody can really follow up on it. Army, leather, brocade, baroque, lace, knits, all white, patterns, flowers. Before I was into it, now I have either fallen off the cool waggon or I am just over it all. I am not saying this as a blogger, but a regular consumer, one of many looking for something new and fresh. This summer I got an offer to be head fashion editor in a Oslo magazine, first I was like.. Cool! Excited about this offer! BUT In the back of my mind I knew it could never work, the magazine was way to commercial, and I would end up hating my work, and eventually, my life. I rarely bother to go all these events I get invites to, because it makes me even more depressed then I already am, to go somewhere all excited, and then it is like hearing people talk about air. And I can not stand doing interviews (not that anyone is lining up haha), mainly because I am shy, but they always ask me for trend tips and what is cool these days. If I get media space, that is not what I want to use it for!
I want to read into the fashion industry, and be suprised like when I look at modern art, or even architecture!
In this world, I think fashion bloggers have an advantage, because most of us are keeping it a bit personal and a lot more real. Most of us dont have 2 meter legs to flaunt, a budget on a zillion dollar, or a perfect little face. But most of us never dictate your fashion fall. It is all about personality, and being your own style master. Might not be just as flattering, but way cooler! Think about the opposite sex for a minute, is there anything hotter than a guy rocking his own look? The Majority of fashion magazines talk to the readers like they are regina george on a mean bender, with the attention of insecure high school students. Why? The writer and keeping it real poet Tuli Kupferberg once said ?When patterns are broken, new worlds emerge?. That would not make him (or people like him) great editor in chiefs, but it would probably bring much needed bazinga to the magazine stands.
